Srinagar: Three army soldiers were killed and three sustained injuries after militants ambushed them in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Thursday.
A Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was carried out at Kungnoo village in Shopian, by 44 RR and Police, police said adding the CASO concluded without any arrest or recovery.
However, while returning from Kungnoo, the CASO party was attacked by unknown militants at Mulu Chitragam at about 2 am resulting in injuries to six army personnel including two officers, police said.
Police added that later three army soldiers succumbed to their injuries.
One lady Taja Wife of Ghulam Mohammed Mir of Mulu, who according to police was hit by a stray bullet inside her house during the cross fire also succumbed to her injuries.
