Bandipora: Protests erupted in Saderkoot area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday after army allegedly beat up several villagers.
The protesters blocked Bandipora-Srinagar highway to agitate against the alleged army highhandedness.
They said the army personnel beat up several people without any provocation.
Hundreds of protesters including women held a sit-in and raised slogans against the army at Saderkoot Payeen area.
Locals alleged that the armies (Road opening party) went berserk and trashed many villagers after a scuffle with a local driver.
However, defence spokesman in Srinagar Col Rajesh Kalia denied the allegation saying the army personnel did not beat up any civilian in the area.
