Police launches crackdown against drug peddlers

Budgam: Continuing its drive against drug menace, the Budgam police on Sunday said that notorious peddlers have been arrested at two places.
“On input regarding the transportation of the narcotic drugs from Srinagar to Budgam town, a naka was laid near Sheikhpora petrol pump where a vehicle bearing registration number JKO1D 2650 was intercepted. Both drug peddlers were held along-with the vehicle,” SSP Budgam Abdul Waheed said.
The peddlers were identified as Rashid Ahmad sheikh son of Gulam Rasool Sheikh, resident of Hazratbal and Mohammad Aslam Mir son of Sonaullah Mir resident of Ichgam Budgam, he said.
Police recovered 1000 bottles of codeine phosphate from them.
A case bearing FIR no 331/17 U/S and 8/21 NDPS has been registered. In another naka laid by the police party Chadoora, drug peddlers, reportedly government employees were held. They were identified as Abdul Hamid Rather resident of Hossipora and Zubair Ahmad Dar, resident of Dolipora. Police have recovered 768 capsules of spasmoproxivon plus and 22 tusiodine bottles from them.
Meanwhile, Anantnag police arrested a drug peddler during a naka checking in Mattan area of Anantnag.
