Srinagar: Scores of hostel boarders at Kashmir University offered funeral prayers for the deceased militants and civilians in Kulgam at the campus on Sunday.
The students, shouting pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans, assembled in the lawns of hostels after Maghrib prayers and offered prayers.
“The encounters are the outcome of ongoing oppression by forces and anti-Kashmir policies of the government. Before it gets too late to handle the situation, the government should initiate meaningful initiatives to address Kashmir issue,” the students said.
They said that rather than healing wounds of people, the government was pushing them to the wall.
The students held demonstrations for several minutes and raised pro-freedom slogans. They later dispersed peacefully.
