SRINAGAR: Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) has accused the government of victimising Kashmiri traders in the grab of Lakhanpur entry post and unnecessary detaining good bound trucks to valley.
In a statement, chairman of the association Mohammad Yasin Khan said the DC Sales Tax has been deliberately seizing good laden trucks headed for Kashmir to “further crumble the economy of Kashmir.” The trucks according to Khan are held for weeks, and officials are calling the shots to frustrate Kashmiri traders.
He said the state government was directly responsible for this mess. “Time and again we have been telling the government to end two tier entry system for Kashmir as this further breeds corruption.
Khan appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu to take remedial measures without any further delay.
They also suggested that tax officials should help to mitigate the problems trades by allowing them to compete any pending formalities from here by setting an office here.
