Clashes rock Sopore after Friday prayers

Srinagar: Clashes between the government forces and protesters erupted in Sopore town of the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after congregational Friday prayers, reports said.
Hundreds of protesters took to streets immediately after the Friday prayers were over and started raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
However, government forces including police and paramilitary personnel fired teargas shells to disperse them resulting in the clashes.
The joint resistance leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had called for UN march after Friday prayers however authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar parts to thwart the march.
