Highway resumes partially, more rains likely in Kashmir

Srinagar: The Metrological Department of Kashmir on Wednesday issued a fresh prediction of light to moderate rain and snowfall in some places of Kashmir.
“We are expecting light to moderate rain and snowfall in some places of Kashmir for next 24 hours as the Western Disturbance is active in the region,” said Director Metrological department, Sonam Lotus.
“However the weather will likely improve from Friday and the weather may remain dry for next one week” he adds.
Meanwhile another official of Metrological Department of Kashmir said, “In the Wednesday morning some areas of Kashmir and Kargil receive a light rains and snowfall”
Meanwhile the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday was restored for one-way traffic and no movement of vehicles from the opposite direction was allowed.
“The 300-kilometer long, Srinagar-Jammu highway was partially restored on Wednesday for one way traffic and no other vehicle was allow to ply from the opposite direction including army and paramilitary forces convoys,” said traffic officials.
The officials also said that traffic from Jammu to Srinagar on Wednesday was allowed to ply on the roads.
“However, in the morning time there was traffic conjunction in some places on the Srinagar-Jammu highway and was restored soon in afternoon,” said SSP traffic Fayaz Ahmad Lone.
