GoAir takes passengers for a ride at Srinagar airport

Srinagar: As if the delay and cancellation of flights from Srinagar ‘International’ airport was not enough, the passengers at the airport are perpetually being put to hassles by winding up x-ray machines before time or rescheduling flights without the information to the passengers. The GoAir airlines tops the list of harming the passengers’ interests and comfort.
A group of passengers told Kashmir Reader that the airline was closing its x-ray counter much before the stipulated time and also takes off flights ahead of schedule.
“My flight was scheduled at 4:20 pm. I reached the X-ray counter at around 3:15 pm but it was closed. I raised the issue with management of the airline but they did not pay any heed to my pleas and eventually I missed my flight,” Mushtaq Ahmad, a businessman from Srinagar said.
He said that the GoAir has been repeatedly doing it from last several months. “It was the fourth time I missed my flight for the same reason,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts, the manager of GoAir airlines didn’t respond to phone calls.
Director Srinagar Airport Sharad Kumar said due to security concerns the passengers are required to arrive three hours before their scheduled departure. He said that checking gates and x-ray counters are closed 45 minutes before the flight takes off. “The passengers have to report early and go through the security check,” he said.
