SRINAGAR: Water logging in the compound of District Institute of Educational and Training (DIET) gave tough time to the staff and the teachers attending training there.
According to DIET staff, it was recurrent problem at the compound, which nobody bothered to look into.
“The water in premises is above our ankles. There is a risk of slipping in muddy water. The officers come in their cars but we have to suffer always,” a staffer at the DIET said.
The staff and visitors were taking a long detour through another compound to reach their office.
Principal DIET Nahid Nelofer told Kashmir Reader, “I have written a letter to district Commissioner to build a proper drainage system because it’s very inconvenient. Whenever it rains, the water level increases and one can’t walk. We are all facing problems.”
She said that many of her staff members have tripped and broken their limbs.
Officials at Srinagar Development Authority responded by saying that their own office compound was inundated.
“We are trying to help people. We will get the things done till tomorrow,” an official said.
