Budgam: Many villages of Budgam district are reeling under darkness since Saturday evening, when a light snowfall disrupted the power supply to these areas.
Villagers from Budgam, Khansahab, Arizal, Brass, Khag, Drang, Poshker and other areas which have also faced long power cuts earlier this winter faced tough time again as power supply remained cut-off for more than 50 hours and in some places.
“The power supply was cut-off when the snowfall started and since then there is no word from the Power Development Department about restoring the supply,” a group of aggrieved residents from Budgam said.
“Our area is also reeling under darkness since last few days,” said Fayaz Ahmad of Drang.
Residents from Mujpathri, Sail, Sourish, Drang, and Poshker also complained of power failure.
People complained that electric poles and supply lines are damaged at many places, with no one from the department attending to them. “Now the Power Development Department will come up with the excuse that a few inches of snowfall disrupted the entire supply system,” said Muzaffar Ahmad of Poshker adding: “Our locality is without power since yesterday evening.”
A senior official of Power Development Department claimed that they have restored supply to entire Kashmir.
