SKIMS delays establishment of cancer institute, SHRC pulls up director

Srinagar: The State Human Rights Commission on Monday asked director SKIMS to file response to a news report about the delay in construction of Government of India-funded State Cancer Institute at SK Institute of Medical Sciences here.
Taking suo moto cognizance of the report, the SHRC chairman has asked the director to file the response within two weeks.
The report highlights lack of “appreciable” progress in the construction of Rs 120-crore SCI, essentially resulting in space and facility crunch in Kashmir for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
