SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Sunday paid tributes to slain militants of Amargrah Sopore saying these youths are sacrificing their precious lives for a “sacred cause”.
In a statement issued here, Geelani said, “It is a cherished and patriotic mission. These youths are putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders and we are duty bound to carry their mission to its logical end.”
Blaming New Delhi for continuous bloodshed in state, Hurriyat (G) chairman said Kashmiris are a peace-loving nation and India’s “rigid and stubborn” attitude is the root cause of all problems.
He asked New Delhi to “stop creating hurdles” and resolve Kashmir issue through peaceful means. “People of Jammu Kashmir don’t nurture any animosity against the people of India but are striving for their birth right,” he said.
Geelani also condemned the arrest of youth in Sopore saying after the killing of two militants in the area, “police arrested Mohammad Syed Magrey, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Maqbool Sheikh and Amir Rather (Trach Kandi), Junaid Wani and Ishfaq Sheikh (Nat Noosa)”.
“This is highhandedness on part of police and these arrests are unjustified,” he said.
