Resistance camp pays tributes to slain militants

SRINAGAR: The resistance camp has paid tributes to Hizbul Mujahideen militants Azaharuddin alias Ghazi Umar and Sajad Ahmad alias Babar, who were killed in an encounter with government forces at Amargarh in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday.
In a statement issued here, Hurriyat Conference (M) said, “the sacrifices of the martyred youth are the most precious assets of the ongoing resistance struggle”.
“For the past several decades, people especially youth have been offering sacrifices of their precious lives and so far tens and thousands have achieved martyrdom to garner attention of the international community towards the resolution of the long-pending Kashmir issue,” the statement said.
“The determination and courage of these sons of the soil to stand up for defending the birth right of their nation in the face of such adversity is exemplary and their role in the ongoing resistance movement is an unforgettable one,” it said.
In a statement issued here, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi said, “The youth lay their lives to end the age-old slavery of our nation thereby putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honour their sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end.”
She criticised the world community’s “criminal silence” saying that “their insensitivity and unconcern is the sole reason for this unabated bloodshed”.
“The world forums, which stand witness to our dispute, act as mute spectators, thereby legitimising and legaliing the brutalities unleashed in this region for the last 70 years. Had these so-called super powers acted to their tall claims, India could not have dared to continue its repression (in Kashmir) and peace would have been ensured long ago,” she said.
Paying tributes to slain militants, Andrabi said youth are on the forefront of the movement whether laying their precious lives, or livelihood, or facing hardships in jails. “They (youth) bravely and willingly offering their today for our tomorrow. Our nation used every democratic and peaceful means for about 40 years to fight this aggression but India responded ruthlessly without giving an ear to the aspirations and just voices thereby negating the historical legitimacy of this dispute. This arrogance, haughtiness and persistent denial can’t hold water for long and New Delhi has to come to terms with the reality,” she said.
Democratic Freedom Party in a statement expressed grief over the killing of militants. Paying tributes, a party spokesperson said “nation will never forget the sacrifices of martyrs”.
