Two militants killed in Sopore shoot out

Srinagar: Two militants from Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit were Saturday killed in a brief gunfight in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. The deceased have been identified as Pervez Ahmad of Galoora Handwara and Prof. Azaharuddin alias Umar Gazi.
Two militants were killed and as many cops, including an officer, injured in the gunfight.
Sources said that the militants travelling on a vehicle opened fire on a police party when they were asked to stop in Amargarh area of Sopore.
A joint party of SOG of J&K Police and army returned the fire, resulting in the death of two militants, they said.
Sources said that the injured cops were identified as SP Operations Baramulla Shafkat Hussain and Sub-Inspector Murtaza.
