Out of 72 recommendations in last 3 years, 11 accepted by empowered committee
Jammu: The government on Wednesday informed the house that the State Human Rights Commission has received 7319 cases of human rights in state from the inception of Commission.
Replying to a question from Engineer Rasheed, the government stated that 7319 cases or complaints have been received by commission from its inception to 04 January 2017.
Regarding the number of cases wherein the recommendation stand passed, the government replied that the total numbers of cases wherein the commission made its recommendation are as on 04-01-2017 are 1712 and the total number of cases disposed by commission is 5755.
To another question about number of such recommendations implemented or pending, the government said that during last three years 72 recommendations have been received from the commission, out of these 70 cases were placed before empowered committee constituted by government order 905 of 2008, to consider the recommendation of the commission over which the empowered committee accepted 11 cases, dismissed 50 cases and deferred 09 cases.
While replying over the status of complaints pending disposal in SHRC with regard to compensation against the forced labour by army during 1990 to 2003, the government stated the cases relating to forced labour, non-complainants [ respondents]union of India has filed writ petition no 141 of 2014 before the high court of Jammu and Kashmir challenged the jurisdiction of commission and got stayed from the high court, thereafter in the midway the proceeding are pending before commission and deferred till the outcome of the writ petition pending before the high court.
