Baramulla: Residents of Hajibal in Baramulla district have complained of hardships as the village remains cut off for the last six days because of heavy snowfall.
Residents of the village located 14 km from Baramulla town said the area received around six feet of snow, and the lone road connecting Hajibal to Baramulla town has not been cleared.
“Due to heavy snowfall our village is completely cut off from Baramulla town and there is no electricity from past six days. The water pipes also got frozen and authorities have turned blind eye to our miseries” said a local resident Nazir Ahmad.
Ahmad rued that despite the village having overwhelmingly voted for the ruling party in last elections, they have been ignored.
“Our entire village has voted for PDP in past several elections and ensured the win of PDP in both assembly and parliamentary elections, but after elections the ruling party forgot this village like anything and left us at the mercy of God” Ahmad said.
The snowfall has also damaged several residential houses, cowsheds and water pipelines and electric poles in the village, he said.
