Tral shuts on militants’ anniversary

Tral: A shutdown was observed on Friday in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district to mark the second death anniversary of two local Hizb militants Abid Ahmad Khan alias Hamza, and Sheraz Ahmad Dar.
Business establishments and shops remained closed while public transport remained off the roads in Tral town.
The two were killed in an encounter with government forces at Handoora Tral on January 27, 2015.  A Commanding Officer (Col) M.N Rai of the Army, who was awarded Yud Sena Medal
for his exemplary bravery on 26 January 2015 a head constable of the J&K Police were also killed in the gun battle.
Abid, a resident of Handoora Tral  joined the Hizbul Mujahideen in September 2012 while Sheraz a resident of Arigund joined militancy in 2011 after stealing a rifle from a friend who worked in police (SOG)
