Gulmarg receives 7 feet of snowfall

KU exams scheduled till Jan 29 postponed
Srinagar: After a spell of unprecedented snowfall in Kashmir, the weather is likely to improve from Friday, according to regional meteorological department.
Director meteorological center Srinagar Sonam Lotus said snowfall might occur at a few places but overall the weather will improve during the next week.
According to MeT, Srinagar received six inches of snowfall from January 23-26 while Qazigund witnessed 14 inches, Pahalgam 3 feet, Kupwara 2.5 feet, Baramulla 2 feet and Gulmarg 7 feet.
An official handout of Kashmir University said all the examinations scheduled to be held up to January 29 have been postponed. Fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately later.
However, all examinations scheduled to be held from January 30, 2017 (Monday) onwards will be held as per the already-notified dates.
“Candidates are also advised not to pay any heed to rumours with regard to postponement of examinations and always rely on official announcement in this regard,” it added.
