4 dead after avalanche struck Kashmir village

Bandipora: Four people died on Wednesday after an avalanche hit a remote village in Bandipora following heavy snowfall in Kashmir.
SDM Gurez Rouf-ur-Rehman said that four people are dead after avalanche struck Gurez’s Budugam in Gurez during Tuesday night.
He said rescue operation has been launched with the help of police and army. The divisional administration had issued avalanche warning in higher reaches of the Valley after the forecast of snowfall beginning Tuesday.
The snowfall will continue till January 26, predicted the regional Meteorological department. The snow has forced closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway and disrupted air traffic at Srinagar airport.
