43 killed in man-animal conflict in 2 yrs

JAMMU: As many as 43 persons were killed while 515 were injured in man and wild animal conflict in the state in last two years, the government informed the state Assembly Monday.
Replying to question of NC legislator Mubarak Gul, the government further said that in 2014-2015, 17 persons were killed and 232 were injured, during 2015-2016, 26 persons were killed and 284 were injured in man-wild animal conflict.
‘’The incident of man animal conflict  has increased owing to demission of forest cover, change in land use topography,  grazing in forest areas, fragmentation in natural habitat, decreasing in prey base and biotic  interfere in habitats of wild animals’’ the government said.
The government also informed that   Rs 2.85 crore have been allocated as compensation to the persons killed or injured in man- wild animal conflict.
