DGP admits policemen do menial jobs for protected persons

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police is contemplating to withdraw security of the protected persons who subject the cops to do menial jobs.
“It has been reported that police personnel deployed with statutory or protected persons are put to menial and irrelevant assignments which is highly dubious and tells badly upon the proficiency of police person in particular and on the organizational fabric in general,” said the official circular issued by JK police chief SP Vaid.
Vaid has directed senior superintendents of police to conduct inspections of all guards and places where cops are deployed.
“Conduct inspection to see if the basic facilities such as accommodation, toilets are available to policemen,” he said ordering them to submit the inspection report by January 31.
The officers have also been directed to ensure no policeman deployed as a guard or personal security officer to a protected person or officer is assigned “menial work”.
“In case of deviation, the concerned police personnel shall face departmental action and facility of guard or PSO to protected person shall be withdrawn,” the order said.
