Yatoo’s family said he had been visiting the offices in Baramulla and Srinagar regularly for the last four years to get his pension case cleared.
“Few days ago he was informed that he had taken a loan of Rs 1.50 lac during his service and that his service book was under investigation and the pension case would not settle. He was shocked to hear it and consumed poison,” Yatoo’s son Abdul Qayoom told Kashmir Reader.
He alleged that Yatoo took the step because of consistent harassment by to the clerical staff of his department.
The family registered a case against the department and is demanding strict action against the clerical staff and officials.
Station House Officer (SHO) Patten Javid Ahmad said that they have registered a case under FIR number 05/2017 under section 306, 309 and started investigations. A postmortem of the body has been conducted and police are waiting for the forensic report.
Superintending Engineer, PHE Division Baramulla, Ghulam Qadir Bhat refuted the allegations and said the deceased was getting his pension.
“The said employee retired from his service in 2012 soon after we settled his all cases and he is receiving pension regularly.
