DC Pulwama had cleared Khalid Wani’s name for compensation
Jammu: The government on Wednesday told the assembly that no ex gratia relief has been provided to the next of kin of Khalid Muzaffar Wani, brother of iconic Hizb commander Burhan Wani, who was killed by the army in 2015.
Deputy commissioner Pulwama had issued a notification in which Khalid was listed as one of the persons whose kin were eligible for ex gratia relief. His name had been cleared by a district level screening cum consultative committee.
Under rules, only the kin of non-combatants are eligible for the relief of Rs 4 lakh or government jobs.
Army had claimed that Khalid was an over ground worker of Hizbul Mujahideen and he was with militants when he was killed.
The government informed the House that no compensation has been paid to the kin of Khalid.
