Joint resistance leaders hold protest outside Jamia Masjid

Srinagar: As per the joint programme of the joint resistance leadership Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, leaders and workers of various resistance groups staged a peaceful protest demonstration outside the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar against the “anti-Kashmir” policies being perpetuated at the government level, attacks on Muslims in Kathua by extremist groups and for dispelling notions of sectarian discord in Kashmir and displaying Shia-Sunni unity.
Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ghulam Nabi Najaar, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Abdul Majeed Wani, Jaffar Kashmiri, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Raja Kalwal, Advocate Sheikh Yasir Dalaal, Umar Adil Dar, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Ramiz Raja, Sirajuddin, Farooq Ahmad Saudagar, Prof. Javed, Imtiyaz Haider, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Sahil Ahmad War and many other resistance leaders and workers participated in the protest demonstration.
According to a statement on the occasion, the resistance leaders reiterated to fight tooth and nail all attempts of creating discord and rift among the people of Kashmir on the sectarian basis and said Kashmiris had for ages been living with religious brotherhood and sectarian harmony.
They said the forces who had been unnerved by the recent peoples’ uprising and united resistance struggle were now trying to arouse communal and sectarian passions to give a bad name to the resistance movement and promised that all the nefarious designs of these elements would be foiled.
Condemning the attacks on Muslims by the communal forces let loose in Kathua, the resistance leaders said these elements were planning another 1947 like Jammu massacre in Kathua but Muslims in Kathua should not feel threatened with this intimidation as entire population of Kashmir was with them and would stand by them in case of any eventuality.
They said the role played by the ruling class was also condemnable as they had failed to provide safety and security to the Muslims under attack by the communal forces and called upon them to ensure the safety of these Muslims.
Denouncing Government of India and its local collaborators in the state for trying to implement anti-Kashmir policies of setting up Sainik Colonies, implementing SARFEASI Act, providing Domicile Certificates to West Pakistan refugees, the resistance leaders said these policies were aimed to change the Muslim-majority identity of Jammu Kashmir and thus changing the demography of the region besides affecting the historic and disputed nature and reality of Kashmir issue.
They said Kashmir issue is a living reality and that such anti-Kashmir and anti-Muslim policies would not harm its disputed nature.
On the occasion, the resistance leaders also paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Kashmir and the martyrs of Awoosa, Pahalgam and offered Fateh Khawani prayers for them. (KNS)
