JAMMU: Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, on Saturday visited various areas in the periphery of Tawi including parts of Gujar Basti, Thalwal which were left devastated by 2014 floods.
The Minister inspected the protection work area of bund at Thalwal and asked the officers to speed up the measures to be initiated for renovation of the utility for public convenience.
Andrabi directed the officers to strictly pursue the project envisaging diversion of water of Tawi at Thalwal, a vulnerable spot presently populated by around 600 hundred families.
The Minister asked the Administrator Auqaf Islamia Jammu to look into the issue of raising fencing along the graveyard at Thalwal and ensure that the work on it is started at the earliest. He also asked him to prepare a proposal for repair and renovation of Mosque at Gujjar Nagar.
