Kangan: Patient care at sub-district hospital Kangan was badly affected on Wednesday because of a strike by its medical and paramedical staff over non-payment of salaries.
According to the hospital staff authorities have failed to release salary for the last two months due to a tussle between two superintendents at the hospital.
“Government has ordered the appointment of a new superintendent for the institution against which previous superintendent got the court stay and refused to accept his transfer order. This tussle halted the salary disbursing process,” they said.
The superintendent’s office is padlocked and both the superintendents despite on duty are unable to open the office due to court stay, they said and sought the intervention of the director health services and DC Ganderbal in this regard.
The strike caused inconvenience to the patients with only one doctor attending emergency patients.
Later CMO Ganderbal and SDM Kangan reached the spot and after assured he will redress the problem.
