Tap them young… parents are their first corrupting influence: BJP minister on Kashmiri children

Srinagar/ New Delhi: Asserting that Kashmir’s future lies with India, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh said that Kashmiri children should be tapped when they are in class 7 and 8 so that “they are not corrupted by their own parents.”
“We should tap these children when they are in class 7, 8. At that time they are clean. First corrupting influence is their parents – they mislead the children and then there is confusion ahead,” Singh reportedly said.
The minister said that the youth in Kashmir were going astray due to local elements and in “their innocence they can’t understand it”.
He was speaking at a ‘special conference’ organised by Muslim Rashtriya Manch, the Muslim wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), at New Delhi. The Manch had brought students studying in various Indian colleges and universities to the conference with the aim of “bringing them into national mainstream”.
Around 300 Kashmiri students, studying in various colleges and universities outside Kashmir, attended the students’ conference.
“These children,’’ Singh said referring to the students, “are the saving grace if there is a future for Kashmir”.
“Kashmiri youth is awake now and the problem is primarily of the generation that I belong to. It is our responsibility not to allow these youngsters to get spoiled,” he said.
Addressing senior RSS leader and MRM patron Indresh Kumar, Singh said, “We must tap these children when they are in class eight, tenth because they are misled later”.
“Then confusion arises (in them) later,” he added.
Indresh Kumar said, “Kashmir’s reality is not Mullahism, it is Sufism. I have one question for those who pick up gun and make them to do so: Did gun give anyone life? Guns take lives, it doesn’t give one. Did gun give anyone
education or deprived people from it? Did it give happiness to people or fear?”
“Kashmir’s future lies with India. This conference is a baseline and many such initiatives will be take place in future.”
Reffering to triple talaq issue, Kumar said it is not the tradition of “Prophets to give Talaq.”
“I say, don’t give Talaq to your wife who despite receiving beatings cooks food for you? If you have to give Talaq, give Triple Talaq to gun.”
“There’s so much strength in Kashmir, Kashmiryat and Hindustaniyat that even if getting diverted for 10-15 years, we can still get on right direction and show the right path to the world.”
The event concluded after students and organizers stood up and sang Indian national anthem. The students were served Chicken Biryani at lunch.
