Inquiry begins in Kupwara killings

Srinagar: The district administration in Kupwara has initiated inquiry into the incidents of violence in the border district which resulted into death of several civilians in the area since the second week of July when massive public uprising erupted in Kashmir following the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani.
The district magistrate Kupwara GM Dar has appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner as inquiry officer to conduct the magisterial inquiry in several killings.
The concerned officer has sought information from the persons having knowledge about the killings of Zahoor Ahmad Shiekh resident of Warsun, Bilal Ahamd Dantoo resident of Kawari, Mushtaq Ahmad Dantoo resident of Kalaroos, Showkat Ahmad Ganie resident of Hatmulla and Gh Mohammad Mir of Khumriyal, said an official handout.
“The intending persons can record their statements in the office of ADC Kupwara within seven days,” officials said.
