Srinagar: Incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was on Tuesday taken to Florence Hospital for necessary medical check-ups, the JKLF informed in a statement to the press. Yasin has been put under solitary confinement in extremely shabby conditions at Humhama jail and has grown weak, with medical tests conducted last week at Khyber Hospital giving alarming reports, the JKLF said. On Tuesday, his personal doctor Sajad Reshi examined him and advised many medical tests to check his heart, kidney and other ailments. Yasin’s kidney stone has also become enlarged risking his kidney, the JKLF said.
Medical tests on Malik’s heart ailment have given unsatisfactory reports and doctors at Florence Hospital termed his health condition at high risk, the JKLF said. Malik has been advised many medicines and also follow-up medical tests after a week. After the medical examinations, Malik was shifted back to JIC Humhama cell.
From the jail, Malik issued a statement for the press in which he said that assertions made by Indian foreign minister Sushma Sawraj at the United Nations were absurd and against reality. Her calling of Kashmir as an integral part of India was ridiculing the very UN that acknowledged the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.
“People who are delivering sermons of morality and humanism at UN should introspect. If one compares the killings and atrocities committed by British against Indian people and those committed by India on tiny nation of Jammu Kashmir, the later will be found more ferocious and tyrannical. Kashmir is and was not any nation’s integral part but a disputed territory whose inhabitants are striving for their birthright,” Malik said.
“We are not asking for heavens but for the fulfillment of pledges Indians made to us and to the international community at United Nations Security Council, in Indian Parliament and at Lal Chowk Kashmir,” Malik said.
He said that Kashmir belongs to the people of Jammu Kashmir who are yet to decide about their future.
