Srinagar: Terming the speech of Sushma Swaraj at UN as “far from reality”, incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir was never an integral part of India.
In a statement issued to the press, Shah said that by resorting to lies at an international forum like the United Nations, India has made a vain attempt to mislead the world about the historical reality of Jammu & Kashmir.
“If Jammu Kashmir is part of India, it should be given a fair chance to decide its future as was given to all the princely states at the time of partition of India. The move will make everything clear and end the Indo-Pak rivalry in the subcontinent,” he said.
Suggesting Sushma Swaraj to go through history, Shah said any relation based on coercion and military might is unacceptable and that the people of Jammu Kashmir will continue their peaceful struggle until the nation is liberated from foreign occupation.
“Aren’t Indian activities in Jammu Kashmir the acts of terrorism? The lakhs of killings, destruction of properties worth billions, rendering lakhs of children and women orphans and widows are no less than terrorist activities. The terrorism, perpetrated by anyone including the men in uniform, is terrorism; and Indian forces unleashed a reign of terror in Kashmir since last 80 days wherein 95 civilians were killed and about 300 blinded. Are the perpetrators of such acts Raakshas (monsters) or Rakshaks (protectors),” Shah questioned.
