Appeal for unity during holy Moharram

Srinagar: Patron of the Pairwan-i-Wilayat, Moulana Sibti Mohammad Shabir Qumi urged people to hold Moharram processions with unity to foil any attempts aimed at creating discord among Muslims in Kashmir.
In a statement, Qumi said that as the month of holy Moharram is arriving, anti- Muslim elements would be looking for every opportunity to sow discord by creating sectarian strife.
“W should display strong bond and unity so that attempts of our enemies who will try to exploit any situation to create sectarian crises to divert the attention from the ongoing Kashmir movement are foiled successfully,” Qumi said.
Moulana Qumi appealed to the leaders of Kashmir, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohd Yaseen Malik, Moulana Abbas Ansari, Aga Syed Hassan Almosvi and others to form a joint programme for Moharram processions, particularly for Youmi Ashura.
“Holding a joint and united program during holy month of Moharram will be a befitting reply to the enemies of the Umnah of Kashmir,” he said.
He cautioned that there are elements hell-bent upon diverting attention from the ongoing movement of Kashmiris. “We have given number of sacrifices for the cause. Let’s be united to fight the oppressor and take the movement forward to its logical end, which is also the message from the tragedy of Karbala,” he said.
