Srinagar: Kashmiris, including representatives of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), demonstrated against India in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday, the day India’s foreign minister was to address the UN General Assembly.
Kashmiris settled in UK, France, Italy, Switzerland and other countries gathered near Broken Chair in front of United Nations building in Geneva and raised slogans condemning the “atrocities committed by the Indian forces” in Jammu and Kashmir.
While speaking on the occasion, the leaders of different groups and parties condemned the arrest of noted human rights activist Khurram Parvez and demanded his release.
The speakers also expressed their solidarity with the besieged people of Kashmir and appealed to the International community to send a fact finding mission to Kashmir as early as possible. They also hailed the statement of the UN High Commissioner for human rights wherein he expressed his deep concern over the excessive use of force of Indian State on peaceful and unarmed protesters in the internationally-recognised disputed territory Jammu and Kashmir.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Altaf wani, Hassan Bana, Syed Faiz, Sardar Amjad, Ahmed Qureshi, Ali Razza Bukhari, Ghalib Hussain and others.
