Srinagar: Activists of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Monday held a protest against unlawful detention of the party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah and other party leaders in different jails of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the party spokesperson said that DFP activists also protested against the lawlessness prevailing in the state, with military might and police ruling the roost.
“Shah Sahib’s detention is unlawful and the justice-loving people of the world must take notice of how human rights are violated in this state,” the party spokesperson said.
Party activists carried banners and placards demanding freedom to hold peaceful protests across the state. They said that Indian agencies were responsible for night raids and arrests of youths under draconian laws, and termed these tactics undemocratic and inhuman.
