SRINAGAR: As the chair of human rights commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group, Turkey would send a fact-finding mission to Kashmir, Pakistan-based Dawn newspaper reported.
As per the report, Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, revealed it during his meeting with Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly session underway in New York.
“Premier Sharif met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan where he also raised the issue of ongoing human rights abuses by Indian troops in IOK,” he was quoted as saying.
Sharif, it said, thanked the Turkish president for his support. The adviser to the prime minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, special assistant Tariq Fatemi, Turkey’s foreign minister and other officials also attended the meeting, it said. The report mentioned Erdogan saying that Turkey and Pakistan have always been and would continue to remain strong and steadfast partners in bringing peace in their respective regions as well as in the Muslim world.
