Srinagar: A day after Indian television channels created hysteria over killing of a group of infiltrators in Nowgam and Uri sectors of north Kashmir, there was no trace of any fatal casualty on the infiltrators’ side even as the army claimed that operations against infiltrators were continuing for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
Two days after the lethal attack on army’s battalion headquarters in Uri, which is in the vicinity of the brigade headquarters, the army claimed that two groups of infiltrators attempted to sneak in through Uri and Nowgam sectors but both attempts were foiled.
Unconfirmed reports had suggested that at least 10 militants were killed in Uri, but defence sources did not confirm the reports.
Meanwhile, sources said that the arrival of National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the Sunday attack in Uri has not gone down well with the army’s top brass. A section of the army is favouring internal probe into the attack, sources said.
