Jamaat condemns arrest of its members

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has strongly condemned the arrest of its district Ameer Baramulla Mohammad Shaban Dar terming it ‘undemocratic’ and ‘unjustified’.

In a statement, it said police and SOG forces raided the house of Dar of Mazbugh Sopore after pre-dawn prayers and took him away to an undisclosed location.

Meanwhile, Jama’at spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali, who was set free by first class magistrate has been again booked.

“Instead of letting him free, police detained him in another concocted and baseless case which was lodged in Batamaloo police station,” it said while urging human rights bodies to come forward and take strong notice of rights violations in Kashmir.
