Forces stop pro-freedom rally in Shopian, dozens injured

SRINAGAR: At least 40 people were injured after the government forces fired teargas shells and pellet ammunition to stop the people from marching towards Vihil village in Shopian where locals had announced a pro-freedom-cum-unity rally.
Despite curfew in Vihil to stop the rally, people from several other villages early morning tried to march towards the village. However forces  tried to stop the people from marching ahead. This angered people who resorted to stone throwing triggering clashes.
Forces, witnesses said, fired both pellets and burst tear gas shells to disperse the stone throwing youth causing injuries to at least 40 people.
