SRINAGAR: Police has night arrested JKLF (R) general secretary, Wajahat Bashir Qureshi, from his residence and lodged him in police station Parimpora, the party said.
In a statement issued here, the party’s chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bita Karate, criticised the authorities and described the detention as “uncalled for” and “unjustified”.
He termed Mehbooba Mufti-led administration as “worst and brutal” and stated that they have “surpassed all limits”.
“Detentions, killings, intimidations, repressive measures and stubborn attitude of India and its allies in the state, won’t deter us from pursuing our mission,” he said, condemning the “arrest spree unleashed” by state police and demanded immediate release of party secretary.
While lashing at the state administration for killings in Shopian and Anantnag, he said the forces were killing “innocent citizens without any provocation”.
Paying tributes to Sayar Ahmad sheik (Shopian) and Yawar Ahmad (Baitengoo Anantnag), Javid Ahmad Dar (Wadwan), Bita Karate said that Kashmir was indebted to “our martyrs” who “are icons of our freedom movement and we are obliged to follow their mission”. He extended his sympathies and condolence to the bereaved families.
“It is an irreparable loss and we feel this pain,” he said.
