Srinagar: Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti drew flak for several “insensitive remarks” on the killing of young boys during the raging anti-India uprising, like saying “had these boys gone to buy toffee or milk”. On Saturday, while “expressing concern” over the death of a youth in Shopian, she again drew flak (on social media networking sites) for saying, “I don’t know what to say, I am slightly upset…”
“I am slightly upset because as I was leaving for this place, my secretary told me that in Shopian yet again a boy, who was pelting stones, has died, so I am slightly upset today,” she said during a function in Jammu.
Social media users attacked Mehbooba for her remarks.
“When her loved one dies, she will be ‘slightly’ upset. Shame on this lady. This lady would families whose loved ones were killed in 2008 and 2010. Very clear now it was just to gain sympathy to reach CM’s chair. How low a person can stoop. Shame on her again,” said Wasim on his FB page.
“She was upset because she was expecting more killings from these brute forces. She is a chameleon,” said a FB user (identity withheld for safety reasons).
