Kashmir uprising: Secretariat employees to boycott duties

Srinagar: The civil secretariat employees on Thursday announced to formally “boycott” their duties during the ongoing uprising.

Holding a protest inside the secretariat in afternoon, which is seat of the governance in the summer capital of the state, chairman secretariat employees coordination committee Ghulam Rasool Mir said they have announced boycotting duties from today only.

“We won’t put our lives in risk. Apart from Kashmir, we have asked employees from Jammu also to stay at their homes and boycott their duties,” he said.

Mir said prevailing situation does not allow employees to join their offices.

“Why do they force us to resume duties? We have no issues if they suspend or withheld our salaries,” he said claiming they the secretariat employees comprise about 4000.
