SRINAGAR: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in all Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in the State. According to a notification issued on Tuesday by Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shantmanu, the draft publication of electoral rolls would be conducted on September 15 and the period of filing claims and objections would be from September 15 to October 14.
All individuals who are 18 years of age or above as on January 1, 2017, can get their names enrolled in the electoral rolls by filing Form 6, along with two coloured photographs for getting “Electors Photo Identity Card”.
Final publication of electoral rolls would be done on January 5, 2017, reads the notification.
Photo Electoral Rolls 2016 would be available at district headquarters/Tehsil offices/offices of Srinagar and Jammu Municipal Corporations/booth level officers, and polling station level and on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K (http;//ceojk.nic.in). The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (Migrant) in Delhi and Jammu shall receive the claims and objections from the Kashmiri Migrants living within their jurisdiction.
