PDP MP’s house torched

Srinagar: A newly-constructed house of PDP Rajya Sabha member Nazir Ahmad Laway suffered damages when protesters set ablaze a cabin housing his security guards at Chawalgam village in Kulgam district on Thursday.
Local sources said tens of hundreds of protesters were stopped from assembling in nearby Katroosa village for a freedom meeting at a ground. The  government forces used massive force on the people and fired teargas, pellets and empty rounds in air, injuring dozens.
The irate protesters then marched towards Laway’s residence and set ablaze the gaurdroom first. His house also caught fire. His two guards fired in air in self defence.
Neither Laway nor his family members were present in the house at the time of attack, local said. Laway, a businessman, was nominated to Rajya Sabha by PDP.
