SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Wednesday paid tributes to Danish Manzoor of Nadihal, Baramulla, and Idrees Altaf of Ladoora, Rafiabad.
In a statement issued here, Hurriyat said, “The martyrdom of our loved ones will soon bear fruit and by the grace of Almighty Allah and steadfastness of nation, we will get rid of this brutal Indian occupation.”
Commenting on the public gathering at Sogam, Kupwara, Hurriyat (G) condemned the police’s “mischievous action” of circulating posters that this programme had been postponed.
“Despite this, people reached the venue and a huge public gathering was organised, where amongst the local leaders, Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani also spoke on phone,” it said, adding that Geelani appealed for “unity and discipline” and to seek the “help and guidance of Almighty Allah”.
Meanwhile, the conglomerate condemned the arrest of a 70-year-old religious and social personality of Sopore Sheikh Mohammad Yousuf.
“Could these so-called saviors of nation peep into the eyes of this old man who was forced to shoulder the coffins of his two young and budding sons? These barbaric and inhuman rulers could introspect themselves that just to please their masters in Delhi, they snatch the only caretaker of the innocent and small orphans of his son,” it said.
Hurriyat (G) said it has taken a “strong note” of defiance to the joint leadership’s programme shown in parts of uptown Srinagar especially Sanat Nagar Bypass and its adjoining areas.
“How long (will) the saffronised political opportunists safeguard you?” Hurriyat said, addressing the shopkeepers in the localities. “At last you have to mingle with your own people. So, don’t act as traitors otherwise you, along with your political gurus on who’s behest you dare to sabotage the ongoing movement, will be wiped away like a straw.”
Hurriyat expressed concern about the reports f “some religious groups and personalities” giving programmes on their own in parts of the Valley.
“Hurriyat clearly denounces such groups and cautions them not to be tools in the hands of agencies to create confusion and chaos amongst the masses,” it said.
