SRINAGAR: Scores of early risers in Rajbagh area were shocked to see personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) occupying their favourite jogging ground on Saturday. Dozens of armed personnel in makeshift bunkers watched the joggers, especially women, as they walked on the tracks.
Locals said that dozens of BSF vehicles entered into the area on Friday afternoon and occupied ten structures. The BSF personnel quickly erected sandbag bunkers around the park.
“We feel threatened now. This was the only place for us to hangout. Even during the past 50 days of unrest, men women and children used to hit the tracks without any fear. Now, we will think twice before entering into the park,” a woman from Jawahir Nagar area said.
The BSG has occupied makeshift quarters constructed after the 2014 floods.
