Srinagar: Unknown gunmen shot dead a police constable at Koil village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district early on Saturday. The incident has further scared the constabulary that has been warned of social boycott by the resistance camp if they ‘continue atrocities on people’.
The deceased policeman, head-constable Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, was shot by the gunmen when he was about to board his car.

The assailants fled away from the scene. His death takes the toll of the policemen killed during the uprising to three.
Militants had killed a policeman at Chansar village in Kulgam district, while another cop died in an ambush on an army convoy at Baramulla in north Kashmir.
Several policemen including some officers were injured when unknown persons hurled a grenade at them at Prichoo village in Pulwama earlier this week.
The slain cop’s body was later taken to district police lines where senior officers laid wreaths on his coffin. He was himself posted at the district lines. Police authorities said the attack on the police constable was aimed at demoralizing the police force.
