Eight govt employees arrested

Baramulla: A day after detaining them at Lal Chowk where they were holding a protest against the killings of civilians, the police on Tuesday arrested eight government employees, including president of the employees’ Joint Action Committee Abdul Qayoom Wani. Wani along with another EJAC member Farooq Trali have been put in sub-district jail Baramulla, the JAC spokesman said.
Chairman of the Kashmir Economic Alliance, Mohammad Yaseen Khan, condemned the arrests, saying, “PDP-BJP government is setting scores with the employees’ union leaders.”
“It is a known fact that one of ministers in the PDP-BJP coalition, who is often ridiculed for his wicked wisdom, had personal animosity with the employees’ union leaders, particularly Qayoom Wani, because he often resisted the sinister designs of the minister,” Khan said.
