“Will supply fuel to Kashmir if state provides promised security’
SRINAGAR: The Oil Tankers on Monday partly called off its strike after a meeting with the state government.
However, the restoration of supplies to Kashmir Valley has been made conditional to security to be provided by the administration to the truckers for travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
“We convey to the general public of Jammu and Kashmir that J&K Oil Tankers Association has taken a decision…(that) divisional commissioner shall give us in writing and only then POL supplies for the Kashmir Valley shall be dispatched with full security in the shape of convoy from Banihal,” the association said in a statement issued here.
“It was further agreed by the administration that all the vehicles which shall be transferred from Srinagar Depots ( IOC/BPC/HPC) to different locations of Kashmir Valley also will go under security cover,” it said.
The association said the supplies to Jammu have been restored while for Kashmir, they will wait for the administration to fulfill its promise of providing security the truckers.
The association said the government has been asked to pay compensation to injured drivers.
