Imams booked for sedition in Kishtwar

Srinagar: Two Imams and several others were booked by the Kishtwar police on Monday for sedition and disrupting peace in two different FIRs registered at police station Kishtwar.
Sources said that the Kishtwar Police registered FIR No. 157 and 158 under section 120B (Criminal Conspiracy), 124 A (Sedition) and 153A (Promoting Religious Enmity) against the Imam of Umar Mollah Masjid and senior separatist leader Abdul Qayoom Mattoo, and the Imam of Bunastan Masjid, Qari Manzoor Ahmed Ganie.
The FIRs said that the Imam of Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Farooq Ahmed Kichloo, and separatist leader Molvi Abdul Qayoom Mattoo and Imam Bunastan Masjid Hafiz Manzoor Ahmed Ganie made an announcement from the loudspeaker of Jamia Masjid Kishtwar calling for shutdown on August 4/5 against the killings of civilians in Kashmir. It added that the accused “raised provocative and anti-national slogans with an aim to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in this district at Bus Stand Kishtwar.”
