SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Saturday condemned the attack by the government forces on 80-year-old Abdul Qayoum and his wife at of Tral, Pulwama.
A Hurriyat (G) spokesman questioned police’s move to harass families of those it aims to arrest. “Why you harass the brother or other family members instead of persons you want to arrest?” he said in a statement issued here. The spokesman cautioned “these black-sheep in police” to desist from “these activities”.
“Otherwise you will have to face the public,” he said.
Commenting on the army’s statement about efforts of all people including resistance leadership to bring peace in the Valley, he said, “Peace is a distant dream till the last army person is here on our land”.
“Kashmir is a political issue and armed personnel have no say in such issues as they are only being used by the imperialistic leadership of India to hold this land by force,” he said.
“In case you (the army chief) stand on any moral ground, you convey and convince your leadership about the ground situation that 70 long years have failed us to kill the freedom sentiment of Kashmiris and the mood of new generation we face here on the streets today testifies the fact that we are battling a lost fight,” he said.
