Ambulance driver, DC office employee beaten by CRPF

Srinagar: Ambulance driver Nisar Ahmad was beaten up by CRPF troopers at Jahangir Chowk on Saturday when he was ferrying patients from a Pampore hospital to the SMHS Hospital.
Also beaten was Arif Ahmad Teli, an employee at the office of Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, which ironically issues curfew passes.
“Even after showing them curfew pass and revealing my identity they hit me with gun butts in presence of a top police officer who didn’t bother to intervene,” Arif told news agency CNS.
DC office employees demonstrated against the beatings in the office premises and shouted anti-govt and anti-police slogans.
“On the one hand government is forcing us to report to duties while on the other hand our curfew passes are not honoured and we are being abused and thrashed on roads by CRPF men,” they said.
The protesting employees dispersed only after the Divisional Commissioner assured them action against the CRPF personnel.
